Meeting #16 of the Board of Directors - 2004-11-22

The meeting of the Board of Directors was called to order at 10:15 a.m.

Present were:

The minutes of the 15th meeting were read and the date of the meetings of the Board of Directors was corrected, to "the last Monday of every month except in the case of force majeure". It was approved unanimously.

Treasurer's Report

Frederika Houtkooper indicated there was nothing new. The ARNB has $2,575 and ¢98,800 in assets. It was agreed to purchase playing cards at a cost of ¢48,430.

Correspondence

There is an invitation to a tournament in Trinidad and Tobago in January 2005. We have received the reports of the World Bridge Federation which will be available to all members at Club Tres Sin Triunfo.

Turkey

It is hoped that in the future, the pairs will be better prepared.

National Pairs Championship - 2004

This will be held on December 4th. It was suggested that John Mac Gregor send notification to the membership. It will start at 2 pm and will have a cost of ¢7,000 per player, for two sessions and dinner, or ¢3,000 per player for a single session. A pair must compete in both sessions to be eligible for the trophy. The dinner will cost ¢2,500. The Director may not play. John Mac Gregor has donated a trophy for the National Pairs Championship.

Establishment of Alert Policies

The World Bridge Federation has published rules about this. John Mac Gregor moved that the ARNB adhere to these rules from January 1st, 2005 and commit to publish them and bring them to the knowledge of the membership. As well, send them to John Goold for inclusion on the ARNB Internet web site, and post them at Club Tres Sin Triunfo. Pilar Vitoria seconded the motion and it was approved unanimously.

ARNB Membership Dues for 2005

Frederika Houtkooper moved to leave the dues at ¢6,000 for founding, active, and lapsed members, and ¢3,000 for new members. Members should fill in a form when they pay their dues. Irving Ferencz seconded the motion and it was approved unanimously.

Various

The ARNB membership party has already been held. It is proposed the next meeting of the Board of Directors be held the 6th or 13th of December, 2004.
