Meeting #19 of the Board of Directors - 2005-02-28

The meeting of the Board of Directors was called to order at 10:05 a.m.

Present were:

The minutes of the last meeting (#18) were read; John Goold moved that they be accepted, John Mac Gregor seconded the motion, and they were approved unanimously.

The selection for the Women's Team for the CACBF Tournament in May was discussed. A two session classification tournament should be held and the winners have to make a commitment to play in May.

The organizers have indicated they want to meet with the Board in April to review plans and progress for the CACBF Tournament in May.

The National Open Pairs tentatively scheduled for March 12th will be held then. It will be a two-session event starting at 10:00 a.m. and ending at about 5:00 p.m. Lunch will be included and the price will be c7,000 per player.

A portion of the meeting was closed in order to discuss sanctions against a player. This paragraph will be the only public reference to this matter. The Chairman of the CEC, John Goold, still has to get agreement on guidelines and sanctions.

Treasury

The Treasurer, Ria Houtkooper, is about to pay the CACBF dues. This will leave a nominal balance in the ARNB colones account. She also indicated that by March 15th, she will provide an interim financial statement. So far there are 72 paid up members for the year. Members who are still in arrears will have to start paying the surcharge as of March 1st.

John Mac Gregor extended the Board's thanks to John Goold for creating and maintaining the web site for the Zonal Championships to be held in May.

The next meeting will be held on Monday, March 28th.
