  7. In June, 2006, we held the two sessions of the WBF World-Wide Bridge Contest — their annual simultaneous pairs. On the Friday, 16 pairs participated, and it was won by George Harris and Pilar Vitoria. On the Saturday, 9 pairs competed with Isabelle Chaplet and Eduardo Piza winning.
  8. In July, 2006, we held the Membership Game that included a delicious dinner prepared by Pilar Vitoria and Pat Miranda. There were 17 pairs in attendance. Jo Degener and Pat Miranda won north/south; Josef Best and Dick Frost won east/west.

In the future, we will hold the National Open Pairs Championship in November/December, the National Individual Championship in February, the National Teams Championship in March, and the CACBF Zonal Championship in Curaçao in May.

In general terms, the ARNB is recognized by the WBF and the CACBF (Zone 5 of the WBF) as the National Bridge Organization (NBO) for Costa Rica. Among other things, the ARNB has the responsibility for duplicate [bridge] games that are approved in the country.

I hope that we can count on the help of all the members of the ARNB to achieve our objectives of improving bridge in Costa Rica and of spreading it to the Costa Rican public.

Always at your orders,

John Mac Gregor

Fiscal’s Report

September 7, 2005 was the last Ordinary General Meeting of the ARNB. During the period ending today, the operations and finances that have been carried out within the association have been correct.

The Board of Directors held seven meetings and an Extraordinary General Meeting and carried these out with the necessary quorums. All have been registered, as they should, in the the minutes book.

John Goold y Ria Sampinon have resigned their positions and afterwards an Extraordinary General Meeting will be called to elect substitutes.

The Treasurer’s report faithfully reflected the financial state of the association and all the acts during the year by the Board of Directors were according to the statutes for which I have no objection to make to their actions.
